Title: Colleges should lower tuition costs

Purpose: Persuade the audience to to see that tuition prices are too high for students and want to help change them lo a lower cost

Thesis: Tuition costs are way too expensive for students to afford and taking out many loans hurts students in the future when trying to pay them off and living a comfortable life.

Hook: Do you hate paying so much money just to go to school to be able to pursue your dream job?

Introduction: Many students are in debt or paying off many loans after college when they are still looking for a real job and trying to put food on the table. The average price of tuition in the United States for out of state residents is $25,620 per year. That goes over $100,000 for four years and many students don't have that to pay for college.

Transition: We will now look at some negative side effects of high tuition prices

Body

Main point 1
Debt

  1. A us news article states that is takes are 20 years to pay off college loans
    • this means you will be well into your 40s still trying to pay off college
    • can be a major stressor if you have kids of your own you have to pay for and adult bills like phone, housing, cable etc
    • having loans that long can be hard to keep up with especially if you don't have a high paying job
    • This adds extra stress in your life that you don't need
  2. 70% of students are in debt after college with many loans to pay off
    • After college you should worry about getting a job not paying for loans
    • Interest rates will have you paying more money
Main Point 2
Paying for college
  1. Students going into college are usually 18 so they only have 2 years prior to college to be able to work at minimum wage
    • having a minimum wage job for 2 years will barley pay for 1 full year at college
  2. Working in college is hard since you have to focus on school since you are taking out so many loans and paying so much money for it
  3. Universitys should want students to focus on classes instead of money
Main Point 3
Thinking about how to pay for college can make you stressed
  1. Having student figure out a way to pay for college can be very stressful for a young adult
    • having so many things on your mind can hurt your mental state
    • in college what can add to stress is money, classes, tests, housing and much more
Main point 4
A lot of people can not go to college
  1. Many people can not even afford to go to college at all 
    • college is getting so expensive that many people do not have the chose of receiving a higher education to get a well paying job or get their dream job
    • only 16% of low income college students actually graduate and that is a very sad rate
  2. Everyone should get the chance to go to college
Solution 
  1. make a proposal to sent to the college itself to opt out of random Fees..(rec, mental health Etc)
Why this solution will help
  1. students will be able to focus on the reason they are in college.. School not how they will be able to pay for college
